To setup a new CBSE school, one should follow the 8 steps given below:

Step 1: Formation of Society / Trust / Company Under Section – 8

Formation of a non profit making entity which could be a Trust / Society / Company under Section – 8.

Step 2: Requirement of Land and Change of Land Use

As on March 2022 the minimum land requirement is 1.5 Acres (3 Sections per class limitation) with certain amount of exemptions for Metro cities, A1 Class cities, Hilly Area, North East and Cities with population more than 10 lacs. The land use must be changed from agriculture to non-agriculture.

Step 3: Architectural Planning as per the Board Norms

Building planning and approval from the competent authority. Planning must ensure a minimum size of 6m x 8m (1 Sq mtr per child) apart from labs with 6m x 9m and library with minimum of 1200 sq ft.

Step 4: Furnishing, Recruitment and Marketing

Procurement of furnishing materials, Recruitment of required staff in a phased manner and execution of marketing plan depending of the academic session to start.

Step 5: Affiliation / Recognition from State Education Board

Affiliation / Recognition process with the State Education Board and apply for other statutory authorities viz EPF, ESIC etc apart from opening of Bank Account in the name of school.

Step 6: Obtaining No Objection Certificate NOC from State

After the commencement of the first academic session, the school should apply for No Objection Certificate to the state education department through proper channel.

Step 7: Application for Affiliation to CBSE

File an online application with CBSE, depending on the date window options given by CBSE affiliation department for which www.cbse.saras.gov.in can be visited.

Step 8: Affiliation with CBSE
